Jordan was a busy bee this weekend and I was a busy taxi. Saturday morning Jordan had a soccer game. The weather was great and her team won. Then she showered and went to help her friend with geometry. After that she had a couple hours off before we went into Nashville and while Jordan and her friend went to a concert at the Grand Ole Opry, Devan and I took advantage of the tax free weekend and shopped at the mall next door. She said the concert was fun, it's a mellow venue but she got to see about 6 acts, one of them being Trace Adkins. It ended with Square Dancers! Who doesn't love square dancers?! The mall has a Dave and Busters so we met up there when the concert was over. Dave and Busters is like a Chuck E Cheese but for adults. There is an area for pool, a small bowling alley, video games, skee ball, and you can eat real food there. There were four of us and only two sets of silverware which worked out fine because we mostly had appetizers and finger foods except when desert came. The only silverware left at the table were two knives so I ate my cake with my knife. I just had to be careful not to let the edge of the knife touch the corners of my mouth because it was serrated. Ouch. It's fun to eat cake with a knife. :)
It's cold today. Jordan had a soccer game tonight. It was raining the first 10 minutes of it and then it was just cold and windy. I of course was wearing my oldest jeans that are so thin in a couple spots they are almost see through. My legs were freezing. Two and half hours later they are still chilled and that is with the computer sitting in my lap radiating heat onto my legs.
Gotta go to bed under lots and lots of blankets but the cat crap is calling me. It's telling me to scoop it out and tie it up in a plastic bag. Gotta obey the crap.

yay, the week is over
I've got a bug bite. Where are those stupid insecticide sprayer trucks already!?
I'm going to have to break down and turn on the a/c soon. It's 80 in my house with the doors and windows open and the ceiling fans going. I'm just too cheap to let myself turn it on yet though.
So I lied, I'm not responding to emails today. I'm tired and the crickets are loud so I'm going to let them become white noise and put me to sleep.
Oh, Jordan won her game last night. She has another one Saturday morning. She's not scheduled to ref yet, she's pretty wiped out from the projects this week so she's not sure she wants to. Maybe Sunday she'll ref and then a couple weeknights. Her friend needs help in math and they are going to get together Saturday to work on it. I think she's looking for a reason not to work this weekend. :)

Quick Hi
Hi.
To all who emailed this week, I'll reply tomorrow.
Jordan had soccer and played well. She's getting really fast again AND for all those who saw her play back when - she has lost the arm flailing! *says her mom as she breaks into song - "oh happy day"*
It's really warm so Devan spent some time at the skate park.
Ugh, they need to get out those insecticide spray trucks and attack our city before the bugs bug us into insanity!

Should've gone to the mall today
Devan couldn't find anyone to hang at the mall with so he didn't go. Too bad. Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana was there shopping today. She begins filming nearby in a couple days. She and her father Billy Ray Cyrus, known for his good hair and "Achy Breaky Heart" (and the rest of her family) are from here. Many of Jordan's classmates went to school with her when she was younger. The kids all love to name drop but they do say she is a brat. :0
Jordan had a soccer game Saturday. They won something like 10 -0. It was rather pathetic. Jordan even played goalie for a while just to give the other team a break. Jordan also reffed a bunch this weekend. There were a few tournaments and this weekend was Prom so they were really short on refs. She had two games Friday night, three games Saturday and three games today. She was pretty wiped out especially Saturday. She had the three games in the morning and had to ref right up until her game started. She was actually 10 minutes late to her game and got a ride over to the field from the soccer club. She is getting better and feeling more comfortable as a ref. She normally wouldn't be scheduled for so many games but because they were short on refs she just showed up Saturday and asked if they could use her. She was with two of her friends for a couple games and they made her be center ref! She was very nervous and didn't feel she did well during the second game but it was with a couple novice teams so it was fine. The kids are learning, Jordan's learning, it was fine. So far no mean or scary parents or coaches - just one of the ref coordinator dudes. He makes Jordan really nervous but even her two friends, who have reffed a lot, said he makes them nervous as well.
This week is a busy week with projects and such due so I probably won't get much computer time to update this. There is a month of school left. Yikes!!!!

Friday Fun
Jordan got to ref again tonight. She was scheduled for two games and was an assistant during the first game and then was ready to go for the second game but the weather was threatening to rain so one team didn't show. She still gets paid for that game but she still had to wait in the rain for me to get there. Oh, and she found out how much she gets paid! It's not much right now since she is still a referee assistant but it's still $10 a game and she is getting about 4 or five games a week. She could do more but she is limited on the weekdays because she has training and on Saturdays she has her own game that can get in the way. The ref coordinator likes her so when her availability gets better she may get more games. Tonight she was with another guy who is fairly new so they had the coordinator help with their game and when the coordinator made the comment about her being "cute" the other kid said "she's not cute, she's hot!" Then the rest of the evening he kept following her around talking to her during any breaks and in between games. Jordan's not interested - he's 16 and doesn't even has his learners permit yet! His parents won't let him drive until he gets all B's so their insurance will be cheaper. He doesn't get B's or better because "it's hard." Well, right there he blew any chance he may have had with miss anything less than 97% is unacceptable.
I haven't been offered the job yet for all of you sitting on pins and needles in anticipation. I'm making good money being a temp and I don't have to work any overtime. Plus I get paid weekly. I really do want the stability and medical benefits of the full time job but I'm in no hurry. I know I'm not going anywhere so I'm good as a temp right now.
Jordan is supposed to have a game tomorrow but it's raining tonight so knowing the soccer association, they will probably cancel her game. :)
It's slightly after 10 on a Friday night and I have BIG plans that involve me and my pillow and a comfy blanket and a few snores. I'm exhausted and want to go to bed so to the rest of you party animals and crazy country dancers - enjoy your night, I'm going to bed. ;-) zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Oh forgot to tell you...
She's not coming back. The person I'm filling in for. I'm employed.
My manager said we'll discuss it once they are done closing the month. :)

Yummy Italian Food
My sister is in town! Yay! Since I've moved here she has been to Oregon twice. She is working all week and probably won't have any free time after tonight so we went to dinner. My kids are very regulated during the weekdays about what time they go to bed so they are really tired.
Nice timing to keep them up late - Devan starts state testing tomorrow.
Jordan had her first reffing experience this weekend. It was super cold and she doesn't have any sweat pants yet so she was freezing. She got to ref 3 consecutive games for 7 year old boys and 8 year old girls. Silly girl, she doesn't even know how much she gets paid for it or when. Oh for those days...

GGGGGOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!
It doesn't quite pack the same punch reading it as hearing the announcers yell it for longer than a Michael Jackson song. We were figuring out what her availability for ref-ing this weekend and as I glanced at the schedule I realized she had a game tonight! She had 5 minutes to get ready! This was the fastest I've ever seen her get ready. AND she didn't forget anything! She finally got to play soccer! Yay!!! She played defense and was a little rusty at first but by after the two times she touched the ball first half, it came back to her and she did well. The level of play for rec is definitely slower and much less intense than high school or classic but it's a great way to get her back to being a rockin defender. Her team won 6-0.
Devan needs a new mattress so we wandered around this weekend looking for the best sale. We ended up at Ashley furniture store. The kids were trying out oversized chairs when Jordan saw a bright red futon. It totally matches the red she has going on in her room so she headed over to try it out. There was a dark brown one on a riser so it was too high to get to and then the red one which was a little taller than a tan colored one on the floor. Next thing I know Jordan squeals and has flipped the red futon up on it's end! She had plopped down on the edge of it not knowing that it too was on a riser! She's trying not to fall and flip this thing on top of her and her astonished yelp caught the attention of at least 10 shoppers so they all stopped and stared! I'm useless at this point, I am using all my energy to hold myself upright and force myself to stop laughing before I fall on the floor laughing hysterically and causing another scene. I was so embarrassed and casually made our way to the door. You know, not one sales person bothered us our entire time in the store. I think I was more embarrassed than Jordan. Just thinking about it cracks me up to the point of laughing out loud.
Got my washing machine tonight. Plus the guy switched the cord on the dryer and set them up for me so I just need to clean them and we are good to go.

It's a soccer conspiracy!
Once again, rained out. These southerners are rain wimps. Seriously, I don't even know that it rained Saturday and it was mid 70's on Sunday yet games were cancelled for the weekend. It's getting really old at this point. FOUR weeks - FOUR games scheduled - ZERO games played! I wonder if these people even know what we endured in the Pac NW - frozen fields, rain and wind so fierce the players couldn't see the length of the field, mud so thick it eats cleats. Oooh, that would be a great name for a band - Eats Cleats. It's not as good as Cardboard Calories which Devan used for his band name on Guitar Heroes. My best one came from a movie title which is Dead Lenny.
The clodhopper couple that lived above me moved. I always joked that the huge guy wore weights on his feet because it sounded like he was always stomping. One morning we saw him in his pj's taking out the trash - in his huge military boots! I swear he wore those things every minute he was in his apartment. Well, now we have a quiet older couple above us. The guy works for an appliance company and saw me heading to the laundry room. He has a used washer/dryer set in his truck that he bought from a lady when he delivered her new set. I tell him sure I'll buy them so he unloads the dryer. I swing by the store and get a vent for it, attach the vent tube thingy, get ready to plug it in...and...the plug in prongs don't fit in the outlet. One of the prongs needs to be an "L" shape and the dryer plug doesn't have that. *heavy sigh* I'm so bummed. I was so looking forward to teaching the kids to do laundry!!!!!!!
Today at work was the big day...she took another week off. Now I won't know until next Monday. I guess they sent a registered letter regarding the time off and although there was supposed to be some doctors release for the 7th, they told her she could take another week; so she did. The department is 4 to 1 of her not returning. For purely selfish reasons I hope she doesn't come back. :) I do hope that the reason for her extending her FMLA time is not due to continuing health issues. I think they should hire me anyway, even if she does come back. And I think they should pay me a full time salary but let me work part time AND they should give me gas vouchers AND they should provide me with a healthy lunch and snacks each day AND they should put me on their travel account even if it is for personal use. Yeah, that's all I'm asking, that doesn't seem unreasonable to me... ;-)

My brain is dripping out my nose
I've had watery snot dripping all day. I've nearly chapped my nose blowing it so much and wiping it so much. I blame it on the constant cougher mentioned in an earlier blog. :)
I finally experienced a sonic boom? We were winding down for the night a few days ago and what felt like extreme thunder boomed really loudly and rattled the windows. It shook the apartment and scared the bajeepers out of the cats. It wasn't rainy or stormy or anything. It definitely got our adrenaline surging!
There must be someone nearby with a Hot Air Balloon hobby because we saw another one go by yesterday. This was different than the one we saw before. The other one was rainbow colors and we've seen it probably five or six times. This one was green and orange. It didn't come as close to the apartment as the other one had but it was still close enough that we could hear them blast the fire.
Jordan is supposed to have a soccer game this weekend. She is SSSOOOOOOOO looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to seeing her play defense again. She's been working out really hard so she feels she's in decent enough shape to last a whole game.
Devan is shooting up like a weed. That boy is growing so tall and his voice is getting deeper. He's got this booming laugh now and when he tries to raise his voice to yell something it crackles! :) We finally got his grades and he did fairly well. He got two C's and three A's and two B's. He can do better but I think he wants to make sure he doesn't get straight A's so he doesn't feel that he's competing with Jordan. Besides, he doesn't like to work that hard. :-)
