New Monopoly Mascot
I finally broke down and went to the eye doctor. It takes me a really long time to focus on something so thought I should have it checked out. Turns out my eyes are basically fine. I'm actually good in my right eye, but my left eye, well... I can either cover my left eye when I want to see perfectly clear or live with a teeny tiny bit of blur. My eyes aren't bad enough to warrant a prescription however the Dr. told me I could get a monocle. Jordan looked at me and shook her head wishing instantly that the Dr. never said that because of course now I want a monocle! I don't think I could walk around with it on a silly gold chain so I think I would want it on a leather strap. Leather straps are much cooler than those granny chains. The only problem is, I'm not sure how well I could hold it or wedge it between my cheekbone and eyebrow. I would end up squinching up that side of my face. Not a good look for me. So I've figured out a way to wear a monocle without having to fidget with it or walk around with half my face squinched up - hook two straps on the side of it and wear it like an eye patch. Brilliant right?! And how much fun would it be to flip up my eye patch monocle to give people the evil eye?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! One word - AWESOME! I totally want a monocle now. It's either that or I'll get glasses and pop out the lense for my good eye. Still, the monocle would be so great - I could be the new Monopoly Guy/Gal.

Yea, Not So Much
Like: Green beer on St. Patrick's Day
Not so much: Having to pay for the green beer
Like: Cabbage and Potatoes
Not so much: Corned Beef (what is corned beef anyway?)
Like: Only having to eat corned beef and cabbage once a year
Not so much: Beer and cabbage farts
Like: Having a the first day of Spring Break off
Not so much: No exciting Spring Break plans
Like: The weather being nice enough to wear shorts
Not so much: All the pasty white legs that haven't seen sun for 6 months

Older Than Dirt?
The kids had the house all decorated and clean when I got home from work yesterday. They even made me a cake, well, two actually. One chocolate and one funfetti. :) They had candles going and presents wrapped and took me out to dinner, my choice! It was so great, you'd think it was my birthday or something... I got new pots to replant my blueberries in and I got a super cool mosaic mirror and dirt. I got dirt - wrapped in pretty paper with a bow and everything. I hope they didn't give me the dirt as a not so subtle hint that they think I'm older than it...the dirt. I don't feel older than dirt. But then again, to a 16 and 17 year old, 29 must feel like one adult diaper away from death. Yea, that's right, I said 29. GOT A PROBLEM WITH IT?!?!?!?!?!?!
After dinner last night, I remember why I don't take my daughter out in public very often. We were at a steak house and they had A-1 steak sauce on the table. I hear a weird sniffing noise and looked over to see my daughter coyly holding the A-1 bottle and looking at me with a silly grin. She likes the smell of A-1 sauce and was sniffing it while waiting for our food to arrive! It's a good thing I don't get embarrassed or something like my daughter huffing steak sauce might just do the trick.
I'm going to get some cake and torture the kitties with some of the balloons floating around here. Bye.

March Happiness
Not only does March make me so very happy because it's my birthday month but because flowers are blooming and its getting warmer outside and because we are starting to hear back from colleges. It's exciting...and nerve wracking...but mostly exciting. Had a great college visit the other day with Jordan. She's considering a TN school and we both came away from the visit surprisingly impressed. Much more than we expected to be. She's eligible for the honors program and due to her high score on her SAT, she won't have to take Freshman English but will still get credit for it. That made her very happy. It's not her first choice school but it's totally affordable and the scholarships she could be eligible for are amazing. Of course next year, since she missed the cut-off time for the year...
I've shared before how much I love bumper stickers. I got to embarrass Devan the other day and make myself super happy all at the same time. Win / Win situation!!! We were driving to go get dinner the other night and Devan's little girlfriend was along when I saw a wood paneled station wagon go by that had bumper stickers ALL over it. We got alongside it and tried to read a few but that wasn't enough for me...I decided to follow them so that I could continue reading their propaganda wagon. They ended up pulling over into the high school parking lot so we pulled in behind them and when they got out Jordan and I ran over and started reading their car. It was so much fun! Devan was embarrassed and I got to read lots and lots of fun bumper stickers. They were covering the entire car. Made me happy.
