Vikings Rule

My son has decided that the internet never lies so we are Norwegian. Well, we aren't. We are Scottish and Native American so we can walk around in our buckskin boots and a kilt and if you don't like it, we'll scalp you. That being said, it has not altered his idea about the Norwegian ancestry which hasn't stopped him from learning that there were Norwegian vikings. They weren't as powerful or notorious as the Scandinavian vikings but who cares - vikings rule!!!!

It is now September so the costume shops are open for business.

Let's journey into the adolescent mind of a 14 year old boy...it's costume time and there's a costume store, i'm bored, let's see the bloody creepy masks and oh, look, a viking helmet. We are Norwegian and there were Norwegian vikings so I'm a viking and I need a helmet to prove it. "M-O-M, Mommy, Mom, MOM!!!!!!!! will you buy me this?" (He had his own money which he tried to forget about.)
I totally rock in this. I'm a viking!

Oh wait, vikings don't smile. I'm so cool. Vikings rule!!!!!

back to reality now...
Wasn't that a fun trip? Yes, this is what my son has been wearing the last couple days. He did get quite a few strange looks at the mall and at the sandwich shop. The best part is, he didn't get one single weird look or double take when he went into this store called Hot Topic. He actually fit in with the girl with purple hair and the guy with half blue half fire engine red hair and the kids in all black with chains and lots of body piercings. A little crazy, a lot entertaining - I'm so proud, my son is becoming as amusing as I am! There is hope for him yet. My heart is nearly bursting with joy. Such a proud moment for a mother...

Hope you all had as wonderful of a weekend as me and the Norwegian viking wannabe.
